Dropped Down in London Town......

Hi there.....
I am back to share a layout with you today that I created using the gorgeous Scrappy Canary September 'Penny Lane' Scrapbook Kit...

'Dropped Down in London Town'

I am very fortunate to have been to London twice now and every time I go it still blows me away...it is such an amazing place...I just love it!

As soon as I saw the Studio Calico travel paper in the Penny Lane Scrapbook Kit, I just knew that I wanted to scrap one of my travel photos.... I placed one of the super cute wood veneer hearts about where London is on the map paper!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today...hope you are getting loads of time to create....

Till next time...

Fly Like This...

Hey everyone!

As you probably already know, I just LOVE everything about Jot! I am always submitting to the magazine and I almost always join in their monthly Mood Board challenges....this month is no exception of course!!

I was immediately inspired as soon as I saw this beautiful board....I love the vintage feel to this one....
 o

So I pulled out some gorgeous Jenni Bowlin Studio products
and whipped this layout up in like half an hour!

I have included something from nearly every picture on the mood board...
the circle cushion -my background paper that reminded me of the cushion
the doily wrapped around the paper and the natural twine I have used the wrapped doily under my photo and included the twine on my tag...

The feathers of course and I just loved the clocks and the decorative items
on that table...so I chose to use the ampersand wood veneer and added a miniature clock to my layout as well......

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today.....I would love to see your version of the mood board too....hope you can join in.....happy creating!!

'Santa's Little Helper'

October WOW New Release chipboard used on this layout:

Wood Veneer Mixed Styles Christmas Trees

One of my favourite things to do recently is to use my typewriter to type my journaling directly on a journal card...

That super cute flair is one of Gail's from her shop Greatest View..

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today...I hope you have been inspired to get out your WOW chipboard and create!

You Are...

Hi everyone!!

I am here today to share a technique with you that many people find difficult to do and that is how to layer.....I will show you how to layer both papers and embellishments :)

Here we go!
First I chose my photo and then I gather papers, embellishments etc that inspire straight away...in this layout, I have used the gorgeous Scrappy Canary September 'Penny Lane' Scrapbook Kit plus that paint stripe piece of paper from the August 'Bohemian' Scrapbook Kit too.

Step 1. Choose a background paper and trim other papers to all different lengths for your layers....I find it best to layer with all different shapes and lengths

Step 2. I hardly ever have a design style in mind...so I just shuffle and rearrange as I go...I would change it up heaps of times before I actually adhere anything down..
Step 3. Different paper edges are great for dimension and texture so don't be afraid to get your border punches out!

Step 4. Ephemera packs are a godsend when it comes to layering...especially if they co-ordinate with your papers...you can see how my layout is now starting to take shape above in the bottom right photo with the use of vellum, a paper doily, 2 different size and orientations of ephemera and my different size and shapes of patterned paper....

Step 5. Add your photo...I still haven't adhered anything down at this stage as I like to add and tuck other things behind for balance and detail...

Step 6. I also really like to look at embellishments in different ways...I often cut things up or place other elements over things to co-ordinate.......I wanted to use this sticker from the Crate Paper Notes and Things sticker sheet but as you can see the ribbon parts would not go with the colours in my layout so I cut them off to possibly use another time.....
Step 7. I am lucky enough to have an old typewriter and I just love to grab a journal card and type up my journalling straight onto a card....super quick and easy...plus I don't really like my handwriting either!

Step 8. Adding some mist and the journaling and title are usually the last things I do to complete a layout...I have added some more ephemera and stickers behind my papers (again using different sizes, shapes and orientations) I also added those super cute wood veneer hearts to draw the eye in a triangle around my layout...

One of my favourite brands to work with is Crate Paper....I just love those chipboard frames...perfect for framing something you want to highlight on your project...

Instead of placing the large butterfly sticker flat, I curled its wings up with my fingers for more dimension...

When layering I like to try and keep everything compact so there is not too much spreading out and everything getting lost on my layout..

I hope this little tutorial has helped some of you that might find it difficult to layer and to use up your stash!
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today.....happy layering!

Paper Issues....'Woodn't You Know, It's Fall' issue!

Hi everyone!

Over at Paper Issues there is a current issue
and that is a 'Woodn't You Know, It's Fall' issue!!

All this means is that there are a few different bits of criteria based around 'Fall/Autumn' that you can use on your projects to join in and you can link up some projects old or new!!

Here is the criteria:
  • Any project about the fall season.
  • What says "fall" to you? Is it the changing leaves, hay rides, corn mazes, hiking, a nature walk or scavenger hunt?
  • What is fall like where you live?
  • Use wood veneer, tree, acorn or woodland animal embellishments.
  • Do you have wood grain paper in your stash? Now's your chance to bust it out and use it.
  • What do you love most about fall?
  • Tell us about your fall traditions. Maybe it's apple picking, going to the pumpkin patch, or getting lost in a corn maze.
  • Do you decorate your house for fall? Show us your home decor.
  • Choose earthy/natural colors for your project.
  • Use Pinkfresh Studio products.

I thought I would have a little recap of 3 of my favourite layouts from the past few months all that hopefully meet the criteria...so here goes!

'Groom Shoes'

'I am a Rockstar'

'Me and You'

Smile...

Hi again everyone...

Let me tell you a little about Papercut Labs.....this is a new online classroom with scrapbooking and cardmaking classes taught by some of our elite Australian teachers including Jen Hall and Natalie Elphinstone....I am lucky enough to be a part of the blogging team at Papercut Labs so I I am lucky to get an inside look into the classes......recently I took a look at Jen's amazing 'Colour Series' classes and today I am sharing a layout that is inspired by her classes, this layout was also recently published on the Papercut Labs blog...here

'Smile'

I started off with a clear gesso background so that my watered down mist would have something to adhere too... once dry, I got out my Heidi Swapp Color Shines and went to town with creating a watercolour effect...

I also stamped the background with lots of different stamps and different coloured inks as well...

The papers I have used are from Heidi Swapp's 'Favorite Things' collection....

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today....happy creating...
